Objectives and the scope of assessment
The NNE is expected to assist MEG in the energy sector's long-term planning,
Specifically, by carrying out the following tasks:
a. Conduct an assessment of Mongolia's current energy resources, infrastructure, and
consumption patterns.
b. Develop a long-term roadmap for the optimal utilization of energy resources in
Mongolia, considering environmental sustainability, health, air quality, energy
conservation and energy efficiency, demand management, and adoption of modern energy
technologies, energy security, and economic growth.
c. Identify opportunities for diversification and integration of renewable energy sources
into the energy mix.
d. Enhance the resilience of the energy sector to potential challenges, such as natural
disasters, supply disruptions, and climate change impacts.
e. Outline policy recommendations, regulatory frameworks, and financial mechanisms
to support the implementation of the plan.
